I shared 35 years of my life with my husband. I’m 55 and he’s 57. In all that time, we had a son and two wonderful daughters. To everyone else, our marriage seemed perfect… but the truth was very different.
My husband hardly ever worked. He occasionally helped a friend as a mechanic, but most of the time he sat in front of the television, complaining about everything: the government, the neighbor’s new car, and even me, for the supposed mess in the house.
Over the years, his complaints became part of our routine, and I had already learned to ignore them. 😢
When he left me for another woman, it was a devastating blow for all of us. She was just over forty, and although the pain was immense, I soon realized something surprising: that episode was going to completely transform my life. 😢
After 35 years of marriage, he chose a younger woman, and I was left alone, realizing that I had spent my entire life living solely for others.
And yet, with time, I understood that his departure wasn’t a loss, but a liberation.
Now I’m alone… or rather, I’m free. I don’t have a partner, and I’m not looking for one. I feel at peace. I finally understood the most important lesson: during the marriage, I dedicated myself so much to taking care of everyone else that I forgot to take care of myself.
He had become accustomed to me always being there to serve him and took it for granted. But when it was me who needed support, he disappeared, always with some excuse.
After the divorce, my daughters became my greatest support. They reminded me that life goes on and that there are still reasons to smile. Today I have more time for myself, I enjoy the little things, and I’ve discovered that I can be happy even without a husband.
I have made a firm decision: I will never forgive my ex-husband and I will never allow him back into my life.
