I worked abroad for three years, sending money to my sister so she could take care of my mother. But when I returned home, I saw the terrible conditions my mother was living in.

For three years, I worked abroad, sending money to my younger sister to take care of our mother. I thought everything was under control… until I returned and discovered the real conditions Mom was living in.

I spent three long years away from home. Leaving my hometown and abandoning Mom was one of the hardest decisions of my life. She was no longer young, had health problems, and needed constant support.

My little sister always reassured me, promising to be by her side, to take care of her in every way. We made an agreement: I would send enough money each month for food, medicine, and bills, while she would take care of Mom and the housework.

Three years went by like this. I worked from dawn to dusk, saving every penny and sending it home, convinced that Mom was living peacefully and protected.

But that summer, I decided to surprise them. Without telling Mom or my sister, I bought a ticket and returned to our city. With the old bunch of keys in my hand, I opened the apartment door… and an intense smell immediately hit me.

The worst awaited me in Mom’s room.

There she was, lying in bed, wrapped in rags. She was wearing a faded green T-shirt that once fit her perfectly, now hanging off her body like a sack. Her face was gaunt, her hair completely white, her skin marked and aged as if ten years had passed in a single night.

Around the bed reigned disorder: bags, dirty clothes, empty medicine boxes, papers, trash. The air was unbreathable, a mixture of mold, pharmaceuticals, and filth.

„Mom…” I ran to her. „What happened? Why are you like this? I sent you the money!”

She looked at me with tired eyes and sighed:
„Daughter… I waited so long for you… But I’ve lived alone all this time. Your sister barely came. I never received the money you sent me.” I survived on my pension: I bought medicine, some food… and the rest I did as best I could.

I couldn’t believe it. For three years, while I worked and sent every cent, my sister kept everything. She didn’t take care of Mom, didn’t buy anything, didn’t pay bills… and Mom kept quiet so as not to worry me.

Looking around, the truth was evident: Mom lived in misery, gritting her teeth, saving on everything, wearing clothes from decades past. No sign of care, no company.

I hugged her tightly and whispered,
„It’s over, Mom. You’ll never be alone again.”

That very day, I made a decision: my sister had to pay for what she did. For three years, she lived at my expense, buying new clothes, going to restaurants, showing off a „perfect” life on social media, while our mother wasted away in solitude. 😢😢

This is what I did: I sold the house in my name and my car too. I blocked all the bank accounts where I sent the money and took back complete control. My sister was left penniless.

When she found out, she called me furiously, yelling and threatening:
„What have you done?! How could you leave me with nothing?! You had no right!”

I responded coldly:
„Shut up. If you say one more word, I’ll go to the police and tell them everything. Everything you did to Mom and to me too.”

On the other end of the line, there was silence. I knew she was afraid.

My sister was left with nothing. And honestly, I don’t regret it at all.
