„Romain, we’re having twins!” Tanya shouted into the phone, her voice vibrating with pure joy.
„They’re tiny, five pounds each, but perfectly healthy. Everything’s fine!”
„The ultrasound confirmed… twins,” Romain murmured, as if the news wasn’t a surprise at all. „Boys?”
After the twins were born, my husband seemed completely detached. He ignored the children… and me too. I was alone with my worries and sleepless nights, while a cold emptiness slowly crept between us.
One day, I overheard his conversation with his mother:
„I’m not interested,” he said in an icy voice, as if he’d given up on everything. „Tanya wanted them. Let her take care of them.”
Those words pierced me like a blade. In an instant, I gathered my things—I couldn’t remain in that icy silence any longer.
„Stay,” Romain said suddenly, a slight hesitation in his voice. „I’m leaving.”
And he left… along with his lover, Lida. But he soon realized he’d made a mistake. Lida didn’t take care of him, she spent his money and demanded more and more, over and over again.
Romain’s thoughts kept returning to Tanya—to her gaze, her sweetness, the quiet strength that made him feel alive.
After a long time, he returned to his parents… and saw her again. She was more beautiful, stronger, more self-confident.
„You’ve changed,” he whispered, almost hesitantly, as if fearing her true reaction.

„Thank you,” she replied calmly, looking him straight in the eyes, with that gaze that perfectly blended firmness and tenderness.
Romain began to return more and more often. He played with the twins, and their laughter filled the house with a new light, a light that had been missing before. Lida got irritated every time she heard about it, but he no longer cared.
—”Should we divorce?” Tanya asked one day, her voice shaking.
—”Let’s not rush it…” he replied, surprised by his own words.
That evening, Romain didn’t return to Lida. Shortly afterward, he packed his bags and returned home.
—”I knew you’d come back,” she whispered, holding him tightly in her arms.
—”I’ll never leave you again,” he said, his voice trembling with sincere determination.
When Tanya took his hand, she felt that love had finally won. All the fears and lonely nights had vanished, leaving only their shared happiness, beating to the rhythm of their children’s hearts.
