They told my wife, “You’re not pretty enough to work here.” I had to do something about it.

My dear wife, Emma, decided to start looking for a job in sales, thinking it would be perfectly in line with her interests.

One day, while at the mall, she noticed a well-known lingerie store was hiring, as indicated by a sign at the entrance. Emma eagerly entered the store and tried to speak to the salesperson.

However, the salesperson ignored her until she was practically right in front of her. Emma asked how to apply for the position, and the salesperson looked her up and down with a contemptuous smile before dealing the final blow:

„Listen, I don’t think you’re pretty enough for this job. NO CHANCE. Don’t even try.” Emma went home in tears, completely devastated.

My heart broke at the sight of her like this. But then came the anger. No one—and I mean no one—could treat my wife like that and get away with it. I decided I would teach that saleswoman a lesson she would never forget.

Planning the perfect revenge.

A few days later, I returned to the same lingerie store, making sure the same saleswoman was present, and pretended to be an important customer.

I dressed elegantly, exuding confidence and wealth. As soon as I entered, the saleswoman—whose nametag read „Sophia”—gave me a forced smile, completely different from her attitude with Emma.

„Good morning, sir. How may I help you today?” she said cheerfully. I smiled as charmingly as I could and told her I was looking for a special gift for my wife. Sophia immediately began showing me various items, her demeanor a stark contrast to her previous harshness.

I listened intently, feigning impress while internally seething with anger. I asked her questions about quality, materials, and best-selling products, making sure to keep her occupied.

The revelation.

After about half an hour of wandering around the store, I casually mentioned, „You know, my wife was here the other day. She wanted to apply for a job.” Sophia’s face showed a moment of recognition, but quickly recovered.

„Oh yeah? That’s wonderful news,” she said, trying to maintain a professional front. „Yes,” I continued, „but she came back very upset.

She told me someone here told her she wasn’t ‘pretty enough’ to work in this store.” Sophia’s face paled.

She stammered, „Oh, huh, I’m not sure who would have said that. We have very high standards, you know.” „Very high standards?” I repeated, raising an eyebrow.

„Or just superficial?” Her discomfort was evident, but I wasn’t finished yet. „You see, my wife is beautiful, inside and out. And she certainly didn’t deserve to be humiliated like this.”

Sophia’s eyes searched for an escape route. I leaned forward slightly and lowered my voice. „I want to speak to your manager.”

Sweet justice.

The manager, an elegantly dressed woman named Lisa, arrived quickly. I told the whole story, emphasizing the insult and the impact it had had on my wife. Lisa’s expression became serious as she listened.

„I’m truly sorry to hear this,” she said. „We don’t tolerate this kind of behavior. Sophia, could you come into my office, please?” Sophia’s face turned red as she followed Lisa.

I waited patiently, knowing my revenge was already in progress. A few minutes later, Lisa returned, apologized profusely, and sincerely invited Emma to apply again. „We’ll make sure she has a fair and courteous interview,” Lisa promised.

The aftermath.

When I got home, I told Emma everything. She was hesitant at first, still hurt from the first meeting, but I encouraged her to try again.

Reluctantly, she accepted. A week later, Emma returned to the store for her interview. This time, she was warmly welcomed by Lisa and the rest of the staff. Sophia was nowhere to be found.

Emma got the job, and I made sure to visit her often—always with a smile. She flourished in her new role, and her confidence grew every day.

As for Sophia, she was transferred to another branch, far away from us. Justice had been served.

Now, Emma and I often laugh about this episode, grateful for the lesson learned and the strength gained. No one will ever make her feel unworthy again, and I will always be there to make sure of that.
