Mila didn’t have a perfect life—but it was a good life.
As a successful real estate agent, she had built the life she had always dreamed of.
But something was gnawing at her insides: the growing gap between her and her husband, Richard.
The man who had once been warm and attentive had become cold and distant.
The cracks in their marriage grew deeper every day, until one day everything came crashing down in the most unexpected way.
That morning began just as usual.
Mila sat at the kitchen table, meticulously preparing breakfast for herself and Richard.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and the sound of sizzling eggs gave a sense of homeliness.
With a hopeful smile, she set the food in front of him.
“Do you have any ideas for the weekend?”
“Maybe we could visit the new art gallery in town?” she suggested in a light and inviting tone.
Richard barely looked up from his phone, answering with an indifferent mumble.
– We’ll see – he muttered, still focused on the screen.
Mila’s smile faded.
This had become their routine – she tried to reach out, he kept his distance.

As Mila poured another cup of coffee, Richard’s phone flashed again, catching her attention.
A name appeared on the screen: “Carol”, along with a photo of a woman Mila didn’t recognize.
Her heart sank.
– Who’s Carol? – she asked lightly, even though her pulse was racing.
Richard barely looked up. – Just a colleague.
We have a meeting in the countryside this weekend. I’ll be back on Monday – he said nonchalantly.
Mila felt her anxiety deepen, but she smiled strainedly and nodded.
– Okay, have a nice trip – she said and kissed him lightly on the cheek as he took his keys and left.
When the door slammed shut, Mila was left in the kitchen, staring out the window as Richard’s car disappeared down the road.
The name “Carol” echoed in her head, with a growing sense of unease.
Later that day, Mila tried to shake off her doubts and focus on her work.
She had a meeting with a potential client who was looking for a luxury apartment for the weekend.
It was just the distraction she needed.
But when the client arrived, she froze.
Standing in front of her was Carol—the woman from Richard’s phone.
Mila felt her heart pounding, but she kept it professional.
“Nice to meet you, Carol,” she said, extending her hand.
During the viewing, Mila maintained control while Carol spoke confidently and casually.
“This place is perfect,” Carol said with a beaming smile.
“I’m planning a romantic weekend with someone very special to me.”
Mila felt a tightness in her chest. Now she knew – it wasn’t a business trip.
Richard and Carol had planned a secret weekend together – and it was Mila who, without knowing it, had arranged everything.
She handed over the keys with a calm smile and ended the meeting.
But before she left, she put an extra key in her pocket.
Her thoughts raced.
She wasn’t going to let this betrayal pass without consequences.
Later that evening, Mila called Richard.
– Hey, are you coming home tonight? – she asked softly, hiding her raging anger.
– No – Richard answered coldly. – I’m already on my way to the meeting. See you on Monday.
Mila clutched the phone tightly. His lie confirmed everything.
But instead of breaking down, she called another number.
In a steady voice she said:
– We’ll meet at the apartment at eight o’clock tonight. Everything is prepared.
At eight o’clock, Mila arrived at the apartment – along with Carol’s boyfriend.
His face was dark, his jaws were tense.
They entered quietly with the spare key and crept down the hallway towards the bedroom.
Inside, Richard and Carol were laughing in bed.
But the laughter died down immediately when the door opened.
– What the hell is this?! – Carol’s boyfriend thundered. His voice echoed in the room.
Carol flew out of bed, pale with fear.
Richard threw himself out of bed, stammering confused apologies.
– Mila, I… I didn’t want it to be like this! Please, let me explain!
Mila raised her hand – silence.
Her voice was icy and controlled.
– Do you remember the prenuptial agreement you wanted so badly?
The one that said if you cheat, everything becomes mine?
Well, from now on it’s valid.
Carol’s boyfriend looked at Richard with disgust.
“You’re pathetic,” he spat before storming out.
Richard fell to his knees, begging and pleading. But Mila said nothing.
She turned and left.
There was nothing more to say. The truth had already been revealed.
As she stepped out into the cool night air, she felt something unexpected: relief.
She wasn’t broken.
She was free—free to rebuild her life without lies and betrayal.
That night, she slept soundly for the first time in years, knowing that she was finally in control of her own story.
