What started as an innocent lesson in privacy turned into a real show – one that not only caught the attention of the police, but also had consequences I could never have imagined.
I never thought that as an amateur actor I would be teaching my curious neighbors – but life is full of surprises.
It all started when Éva and Lajos moved into the neighborhood. At first glance, they seemed nice, but there was something… strange about them.
— “Welcome to the neighborhood!” I said with a smile, handing over a basket of tomatoes from my garden. “My name is Emma.”
Éva looked around, noticeably uncomfortable.
— “Thank you! We… think safety is very important. You understand, right?”
No, I didn’t. But I nodded politely. At the time, I had no idea where this conversation would lead.
The Shocking Discovery in My Garden
A week later, when I came home from a visit to my mother, I made a terrifying discovery.
It was a sunny afternoon and I was in my bikini in the garden watering the tomatoes. Then I saw something black under the gutter of my neighbor’s house.
— “Is that a surveillance camera?” I muttered, squinting.
When I realized it was filming straight into my garden, I lost my breath.
Without hesitation – still in my bikini – I marched straight to the neighbor’s door and knocked firmly.
Lajos opened it, visibly surprised by my unexpected visit.
— “Why is the camera pointed straight at my garden?” I asked bluntly.
He shrugged.
— “For safety. We just want to make sure no one climbs over the fence.”
— “This is crazy!” I exclaimed. “It’s an invasion of my privacy!”
Éva appeared behind him, arms crossed.
— “We have the right to protect our property,” she said coldly.
But what about my privacy?
I tried to explain how intrusive their behavior was, but it didn’t seem to bother them at all.
Sure, I could have sued them. But a lawsuit would take months and cost me a fortune.
So I came up with a much better solution…
The ingenious revenge
I called my friends.

— “Luca, I need your help. How much do you like… theater?”
Luca laughed.
— “Now I’m curious! Tell me the plan.”
So it began.
With us were Peti, an expert in special effects, and Nóri, who loved theater makeup and costumes.
— “Aren’t we exaggerating a bit?” I asked during the last rehearsal.
Luca put his hand on my shoulder.
— “Emma, they’ve been spying on you for weeks. They deserve this.”
Peti nodded.
— “And when was the last time we did something so crazy?”
Nóri smiled mischievously.
— “The costumes are ready. There’s no going back.”
I laughed – and in that moment all my hesitation disappeared.
— “Okay. Let’s go.”
The show begins
On Saturday afternoon we gathered in my garden – wearing the craziest costumes. I wore a fluorescent wig, tulle skirt and a diving suit.
— “Are you ready for this year’s show?” I asked laughing.
Luca had an alien mask on.
— “We’re going to give them a show they’ll never forget!”
It all started like a normal garden party – we danced, talked and laughed.
— “How’s your mother, Emma?” shouted Peti, dressed as a pirate.
— “Good! She’s still trying to set me up with a friend’s son!” I replied laughing.
Nóri giggled.
— “Typical worried mother! Does she know you’re under surveillance?”
— “No, otherwise she would have gone over to the neighbors and scolded them!”
Luca laughed.
— “I would have liked to see that.”
So far everything had looked normal. But now the real game began.
— “Oh no!” I suddenly shouted, pointing at Luca. “He was murdered!”
Peti raised a plastic knife covered in ketchup.
— “He deserved it!”
Luca fell dramatically to the ground, surrounded by “blood”.
We started screaming and running around in panic, as if a real murder had occurred.
— “Should we call the police?!” Nóri shouted.
— “No! We have to hide the body!” I answered.
And then…
The curtains of the neighbors moved.
— “They saw us,” I whispered.
A second later we heard a car door slam.
We stopped.
And at that moment…
Sirens.
— “Okay. Now it’s really happening,” I sighed. “Into the house, everyone!”
We ran in, quickly cleaned up, changed into regular clothes and sat down at the table with a pot of tea.
When the police knocked on the door, we were completely calm.
— “Is there a problem?” I asked innocently.
A police officer explained that they had received a murder alarm.
— “Oh, it was just a little bit of theater!” I said with a smile. “Maybe a little too convincing.”
The policeman raised an eyebrow.
— “But… who saw it? Your fence is quite high.”
I sighed dramatically.
— “The neighbors have a camera pointed right into my garden.”
The police exchanged meaningful glances.
An hour later, the neighbors were fined and forced to take down the camera.
A few days later, Éva and Lajos packed their things and moved.
And me? I returned peacefully to my tomatoes.
