Something strange from the past. I’m sure you don’t understand what it is.

At first glance, looking at this object, one might think it was a medieval torture device, but the surprising thing is that it was also used in the USSR.

The curious thing is that almost no one knows how to use it correctly. Only recently did research begin to investigate its true ancient origins, and it was finally confirmed.

Some claimed that torture could not be carried out without this device, while others were convinced it was for medical purposes. However, today there are much more convenient and less intimidating tools.

I want to reassure you by saying that it has no strange use or connection to a dark past. Maybe if I called it a „gadget” you wouldn’t believe me, but that’s exactly what it is! It turns out it was used to peel eggs, which is why its shape is so suspicious and raises doubts about its true purpose.

It was especially useful when preparing soft-boiled eggs, and the shell was difficult to remove. I myself didn’t believe it until the very end, and even more so when I discovered that it was already being used two centuries ago, when people didn’t yet have good utensils.

It’s true that the photo of this instrument can evoke horror and distrust.

Furthermore, this object is called a „knife.” Its purpose was to carefully open hard-boiled eggs, leaving the white and yolk intact and undamaged. And if you ever want to try it, you’ll need a little guidance. Here it is:

When you finish boiling the eggs, start with the softest one. If you overcooked it, this method probably won’t work. The key is that even if the yolk is still runny, the white must remain firm.

Hold the egg firmly so it doesn’t slip. Place it vertically on this knife.

Grip it firmly by the handle and direct the tip toward the narrowest part of the egg.

Gently press down to cut the top.

If you’ve done it correctly, you’ll be able to remove the knife without any problems, leaving a perfect opening at the top. From there, you can season the yolk or add a little salt, although that depends on your personal taste.
